The useful conclusions
The best window for flexible consumption changed with the season: it was mainly 00:00–06:00 in winter and 00:00–06:00 in autumn, but moved to 03:00–05:00 / 12:00–16:00 in spring and 03:00–05:00 / 12:00–16:00 in summer.
The evening was consistently the highest-cost period. The recurring maximum was 17:00–18:00 in winter, 19:00–20:00 in spring, 20:00–21:00 in summer and 18:00–19:00 in autumn.
The lowest seasonal average was Summer at 9.71 ct/kWh; the highest was Winter at 13.89 ct/kWh. The lower figure was 30.1% below the higher one.
Negative prices occurred, but remained uncommon across the year: 0.7% of covered delivery time.
Using these seasonal recurring averages, moving 1 kWh of flexible daily use from each season’s highest hour to its lowest would represent about €30 over the covered days in the wholesale component. This is a historical illustration, not a guaranteed bill saving.
